Feb. 25, 2008 - PRLog -- DELRAY BEACH, Florida—A recent study of acupuncture given with embryo transfer in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) suggests that acupuncture may improve rates of pregnancy.  An estimated 10 to 15 percent of couples experience reproductive difficulty and seek specialist fertility treatments, such as IVF.
Acupuncture physician, Dr. Susan Schiff of Acupuncture Associates of Delray Beach, is one of the few acupuncture/fertility specialists in South Florida. According to Dr. Schiff, “With so many couples facing fertility issues, acupuncture has shown promise as a treatment. People should know about these options in case they have family or friends who are having difficulty in creating a family and are looking for choices.”
Dr. Schiff has many success stories with couples who were able to conceive after undergoing acupuncture.  Her new Website, http://www.AcuBaby.com, is especially for couples who are fertility challenged.  It includes research, case studies, information, testimonials; a directory of acupuncture/fertility specialists around the world along with clinics, psychotherapists, and dietitians.
Here are just two success stories about couples who were able to conceive after acupuncture treatments:
Linda and Mark were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and during a two-and-a-half year period they sought treatment from their gynecologist and two fertility doctors. Over that time several doctors stated that they were both in good health and that there was no definitive reason for them to not be pregnant.
After a number of failed IVFs, their Fertility Specialist recommended Acupuncture in conjunction with IVF. Taking his advice, they learned of Dr. Susan Schiff from their local Resolve chapter, and began visiting her during the beginning of their third IVF cycle with this particular Specialist.
Linda states, “Over the course of 7 months, I began feeling calmer, healthier, and more importantly balanced. I believe it was this healthy state that attributed to my becoming pregnant naturally just days shy of the beginning of our fourth IVF cycle.”
A second couple, Karen and Paul, decided to incorporate Acupuncture in their plan to become pregnant. While at their IVF Specialist’s office, they picked up a brochure on Acupuncture Associates of Delray Beach.
“From the first meeting with Dr. Schiff, we knew that we had made the right choice,” said Karen.  “She took the time to really get to know me, my husband and our quest to have a child. She addressed our concerns and fears, gave us strength and confidence through data and facts, and provided genuine empathy to proceed through each step of our fertility process.”
Karen continues, “After each treatment, I literally felt lighter on my feet, stress-free and ready to take on anything that the fertility program tossed our way. I was so confident in Dr. Schiff’s program that we opted to have her present during our critical transfer stage. She provided Acupuncture treatments before and after the transfer, right there at the hospital.” The couple succeeded in their first attempt at in vitro fertilization.
Acupuncture Associates of Delray Beach, led by Susan G. Schiff, A.P., addresses a broad range of health issues with special concentration and expertise in gynecology and fertility.  She is an NCCAOM Board Certified Acupuncture Physician who has been treating women for more than 13 years.  Dr. Schiff studied in New York, Florida and China, and holds a Diplomate status in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology.  For more information visit http://www.gotacupuncture.com.
