Feb. 20, 2008 - PRLog -- Mr. Kwanchai Paphatphong, President of the Vintage Car Club of Thailand, said about hosting the 32nd Vintage Car Concours, “This year the Club has joined hands with Royal Paragon Hall of Siam Paragon Shopping Complex to elevate the standard of the Concours to an international level by developing the format and substance of the event to enrich its diversity. Beginning with moving the venue to Royal Paragon Hall on the 5th Level of Siam Paragon which is right in the heart of downtown Bangkok, a suitable site to welcome both Thais and foreign tourists. The contest itself will be well participated in with more than 180 vintage and classic cars worth over 360 million Baht, supplemented by rare vintage motorcycles. All these vehicles will assemble in a single Hall—in the greatest number ever and also for the first time in Asia. Moreover, there will be a variety of interesting activities such as a showing of vintage movies in a Drive-in-Theatre, a talk forum about various vintage cars, vintage car scale models, collector’s items of famous people, and a contest of vintage car photographs. The Concours will be held for 5 days during 21-25 May, 2008”.

“The Vintage Car Concours has been held consecutively for 31 years up to now and this will be the 32nd. But this year it will be the first time that the Club entitles the prizes for winning contestants as THE GLOSSY HERITAGE AWARDS. The slogan in Thai is … the Honour of Vintage Car, the Pride of Restoration … to indicate our intention to inherit and preserve vintage cars in Thailand as valuable assets in beautiful conditions and properly functional—to show the younger generations that civilized use of cars by Thais dates back as far as any other nation in the world. And also to encourage vintage car conservers to restore and maintain vintage cars as national heritage”, said the President of the Vintage Car Club of Thailand.

Mr. Arun Theng, General Manager of the Royal Paragon Hall said, “This is the first time that our company diversifies into co-organizing an event which involves a more integrated service than just managing the exhibition space. Throughout the 2 years since the opening of Royal Paragon Hall there have been more than 200 events of various kinds—exhibitions, conferences and seminars, trade fairs, concerts, introductions of new products—that guarantee our depth of experience to manage different kinds of events at all levels from national to international levels”.

“In jointly organizing this event with the Vintage Car Club of Thailand, we set a budget of over 10 million Baht to create a grand international-level Vintage Car Concours, on more than 12,000 square meters of Royal Paragon Hall, plus 5 multi-purpose and meeting rooms. We shall also ensure our preparedness in all aspects including the venue, traffic system, the logistics to accommodate more than 180 participating vintage cars and visitors who we expect will comprise more than 50,000 Thai and foreign visitors over 5 days of the event.”

Mr. Arun continued,” The company expects that the Vintage Car Concours will bring in new segments of customers with high purchasing power to avail themselves of the services at Siam Paragon. One important thing is that this event will be a magnet that attracts tourists and business persons who are vintage car buffs from nearby countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand to visit the event. We intend to continue jointly developing the event to make it an annual fête, helping to increase the number of tourists in Thailand and underscoring the success of Royal Paragon Hall as the most luxurious and perfect Conference and Exhibition Center at the international level in Asia”.
