Depression Support Group Created Over Single Mom Considering "Heaven"

A single mother who feels like she has nothing more to offer her son or to look forward to in life came to an online Taoist and Vedic self improvement forum. She galvanized the community and inspired a depression support group with her story.

Feb. 19, 2008 - PRLog -- SugarBlush25, a young single mother in despair, unwittingly galvinized a community and gave a sense of empowerment to the members of a new online depression support group. SugarBlush25 posted her cry for help at http://www.meditation-mantra.org/alchemy/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=337 feeling, "like her son would be better off without [her]." She went so far as the intimate that , "heaven would be a better place." In the process of making herself vulnerable in a public setting, she created an unexpected effect.

SugarBlush25 had been a viewer of a Youtube.com based Eastern self help meditation webcast called Wan Meditation at http://www.youtube.com/yogameditation . Admittedly, she felt some consolation and encouragement from the simple Vedic and Taoist philisophy episodes but it was not enough. She needed personal support.

The forum she chose to reveal her mental and emotional plea to is a self improvement forum used by young teens and men largely from Youtube. The topics covered generally range from meditation to chi kung to esoteric metaphysics from a younger perspective. This is not necessarily where one would expect to find the ideal consolation, understanding, or empathy for a single mother grappling with depression. But young people have an unending ability to surprise.

Instead of the expected advice to go out for a run, eat raw foods, see a doctor, take medication, etc, came a flood of personal stories from these teen agers. These were stories about how they had been sexually molested by foster parents until their biological mother intervened and healed the scars with nothing more than her love. These were stories about how precious it was for their own mothers, inspite of depression, to have just been there. These were poems written to their teen girlfriends rededicated to SugarBlush25.

When SugarBlush25 wrote, "but i have nothing to give him! i am alone i do have my family but they just patrnise. sometime i just think may be heaven is a better place," She created a movement of consolation. Her words evoked a deep inner searching in her teen community. Two of the many sentiments they brought back to her included:

"My mom had severe depression so i sorta know what your going through. Its ok though the illusion of time will pass and all will be well. ... Im only 14 but age brings no barriers because age doesnt exsist." - sk8ermeditator

"I know that it may feel like you have nothing to give your son, i think but you would be surprised by how much love is worth. I am a victim of abuse in state care-i was taken from my mum (because she was falsey accused of abusing me) and then abused in state care - by various ppl-in various places-my mum finally got me back. the only reason i am who i am today ... basically not a psychotic killer-coz that's what happens to ppl such as myself usually- is because of my mother's love-she was there to talk to me when i needed her ... I grew up with nothing-sometimes not enough food to eat, no money for new clothes, toys etc. ... but she did provide me with the one thing i absolutely needed, love. You do have something to offer your child." - BinhDinh_Khiwarrior

SugarBlush25 solidified a community of teens who spend much of their time playing DragonBallZ. She gave this community of youth an opportunity to demonstrate their remarkable capacity for compassion, support, empathy, and personal soul searching at such a young age. She also inspired the Wan Meditation organization to create a non profit depression support group that can be there for countless others who need immediate 24 hour support from teens and aged yogis around the word in 24 time zones at http://www.meditation-mantra.org
