Los Angeles First City Wide FREE spay and Neuter

Feb. 24, 2008 Spay Day LA is Los Angeles first day of action to provide free spay and neuter services throughout the city to the public.

Feb. 18, 2008 - PRLog -- In conjunction with the Humane Society of the United States, Los Angeles Animal Services has joined forces with The Amanda Foundation and the Sam Simon Foundation to provide spay and neuter services absolutely free to the public on February 24.

Spay Day LA will help prevent hundreds of thousands of unwanted births in dogs and cats and will save the city hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees paid to maintain shelter animals and euthanisia costs.

There are thousands of people who want to do what is responsible and spay or neuter their pets but they can't afford it.  This is an opportunity to reach out to those people and offer them a resource to spay or neuter their pet easily and without cost.

Offering free spaying/neutering services not only makes humane sense, it also makes fiscal sense.  It costs the sponsors of the event (Whiskers N Tails, Yoga Fit and Animals Rule Foundation) $15 per surgery.  It costs LAAS $135-$195 to euthanize an animal.
