Website Owners Simply Not Utilising Their Best Assets.

Promoting a website has just got easier with the introduction of a new phenomenon. Forget web ‘directories’ and think web ‘dynamic directories’.

Feb. 14, 2008 - PRLog -- What’s the difference you might ask? Well the old way of listing websites in a directory format, with a title link and a few descriptive words has been around since the web started. The introduction of RSS feeds, however, has changed all of that.

A new ‘dynamic directory’ like the one ooBdoo.com has been piloting over the last few months has produced not just a simple and effective way for websites to promote themselves but has resulted in a mine of high quality ever changing news, information and articles for the user.

Mike Hammond, a director of ooBdoo.com, comments: - “Basically we publish other websites RSS feeds on our site free of charge in a structured and categorized directory. Every page is an ever updating goldmine of information on any subject under the sun from flower arranging to the latest international or local news headlines, from website around the world”.

“We are one of the first to publish RSS feeds in this way”.

OoBdoo (pronounced oo-bee-doo) has been around for over 10 years, providing search facilities and a web directory. But this new approach to providing information has really taken off and is growing every day, with more and more sites asking to be listed.

“We offer to provide information on any subject freely to anyone”.

“We wanted to provide a better experience for our users. We wanted to give them fresh up to the minute information but we also wanted to provide a service for other sites. Just providing endless links to websites had to go and something more dynamic and useful put in its place”.

More and more sites are using RSS (which, in its most recent format, stands for Really Simple Syndication) to syndicate their headline content but unfortunately most, if not all, are not being utilised to their best advantage.

“We aim to provide webmasters and content providers with an avenue to promote and advertise their syndicated content. It is a collaborative effort. These RSS feeds range from simple news headlines, updated every few minutes, to pages of information that are updated on a daily or weekly basis. They may even be information regarding products or goods for sale. All with links back to their respective sites. In fact most feeds are acceptable as long as they provide a genuine information services to the public”.

Old-fashioned directories will still have their place but clearly the new ‘dynamic directory’ is the future for both website owners and users alike.
