a Novel based on Real Events

It’s been nearly a decade since the harrowing events that set into motion Patrick McFadden Jr’s new novel based on real events, The Mountain Mafia. Published by Aventine Press of California, the novel debuted in May to strong reviews.
McFadden, 31, a longtime resident of Hackettstown, New Jersey, had no idea he would become a novelist thirteen years ago when he left high school on a baseball scholarship to Monmouth University.  Captured in the opening pages of the book, his time at college is cut short after just two years due to some truly unforeseen circumstances.
On a moment’s notice while telling no one, he leaves New Jersey one bleak winter’s night just before Thanksgiving and begins his journey to one of the last remote outposts in the lower forty eight states: Montana.
“I knew when I arrived out there, smack in the middle of one of the worst winters in recent memory, alone, broke, and downright scared, that something very interesting was going to happen to me…” McFadden said. And it did.
The Mountain Mafia traces many of the original steps McFadden and a close friend forge trying to find what he calls “any semblance of normalcy in a land spackled with oddities.”
What neither he nor his friend realize is that their vulnerability has been detected.  They are targeted by an insane cabbie who is preparing with family and friends for the end of the world: December 31, 1999.  And he very much desires McFadden and company to be part of it all.
“From there the story travels further north,” McFadden explains, “to where the Mountain Mafia and all it’s psychosis is first introduced.”
“What really sealed this as a story for me, and the reason I feel fortunate to have a bona fide witness to corroborate, is in regards to what we saw flying around in the night sky up there.  I’m not too partial on the whole ‘extra-terrestrial spaceship theory,’ but whatever it was, it was like nothing I’d ever seen before or since. On top of all of it, the inhabitants who lived there claimed to have seen the objects all the time, flying around in different formations.”
McFadden believes this is where the narrative comes full circle, and where bits of proof arise, giving credence to the bizarre thoughts and actions of these reclusive, deep forest dwellers.
McFadden promises his readers two things: that this is like no story you’ve ever encountered before. And it is an extremely quick read.”
The Mountain Mafia is available through local booksellers, as well as through Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com, BooksaMillion, and Buy.com.
