Jan. 11, 2008 - PRLog -- Central Coast Singles plans to visit Cambria and San Simeon this Saturday, January 19, for what is stated to be an extrodinary experience. They will tour the Piedras Blancas lighthouse, view the elephant seals, visit Cambria for lunch, and the Morro Bay waterfront for dinner. This event is open to all singles on the Central Coast of california.

The group will meet at Madonna Plaza Shopping Center at 10:00 am to discuss plans and possible carpool, if members should choose to share costs. Some members from the Paso Robles area will be meeting the group in Cambria for convenience. From San Luis Obispo, the group will head to Cambria, to visit the Fresnel lens from the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse, located next to the Pinedorado fairgrounds in Cambria. Friends of Piedras Blancas Light maintains the light in it's own housing, after having been restored. It is lit nightly, and rotates for the Farmer's Market held there.

Then the group plans to visit the three quarters of a mile long boardwalk along Moonstone Drive. It is a scenic walk, with tidepools below. After the walk, they will have lunch at the Main Street Grill, then head up the coast to San Simeon. They will visit the Pier and  William R. Hearst Memorial State Beach, then stop at the historic Sebastian's General Store, built in 1852.

When done there, they will head up the highway to view the elephant seals. Seals are currently mating and birthing, making for a very active show. The group will be visited by local docent Jill Turnbow, who will aid with the tour. Ms. Turnbow noted, "The last time I was out there for about a half hour, I saw a calf being born. I recommend binoculars and cameras for the best view." The elephant seals have adopted this beach as their own, and are protected from visitors. Docents are available at specified times to answer questions for the public.

The Singles will then have the opportunity to tour the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse with their own docent and tourguide. Donations will help the Friends of Piedras Blancas Lighthouse, and the tour will be very informative and personal. The Friends offer tours each Tuesday and Thursday morning, and can be contacted at 927-7361 for more information. Saturday tours are also offered the third weekend of each month for $15 from the Hearst Castle State Historic Monument Visitor Center, 927-6811.

After the tour, the group will then proceed south to Morro Bay, visiting the 576 foot tall Morro Rock, for a brief tour of the historical monument. The group will visit the Embarcadero, dining on fish and chips in one of the local eateries. After dinner, the members will then make their way back to San Luis Obispo, and end their visit.

Gerald Craig, director of the Central Coast Singles, suggests casual dress, layered for cool wind but comfortable indoors, sturdy walking shoes, hat, and sunscreen. "It will most likely be cold and windy up at the lighthouse, and pleasant but chilly along the Embarcadero. You will want to wear layers, and bring a hair brush and lip balm."

There is no cost for this event, other than a donation for the tour, and whatever the individuals spend. Craig adds, "With this kind of free event, we hope to show good will to the Singles Community, and encourage them to come out and meet others. we hope to draw more singles into our group to find interesting people and inspiring events."

Central Coast Singles has existed since early 2005 to help bring people together to meet other singles, and have fun activities. Excursions, day trips, wine tours, dinners, dancing, game nights, and many other events are planned for the group. Members live from Paso Robles to Lompoc, with events to be held at venues throughout the two counties. "Everyone will have a chance to participate," noted Craig, founder of the group. "We have plans to get people together, no matter where they live."

He stated that, "I started this group to help people get away from just visiting bars or dating sites. It is that sort of grey area inbetween, where you don't have to make sure you have a friend to go out with you, and you can meet some nice people along the way without pressure." Singles in this county have been growing in numbers, with divorce rates rising, and the influx of new residents.

The Central Coast Singles group meets monthly, the fourth Saturday of each month to get together over dinner, discuss upcoming events, and plan for the future. "It is a chance to have dinner with a few people in the same situation as yourself," states Craig. "We feel like the singles community can be a friendly place, rather than lonely. Nobody needs to feel alone any more. We just had a trip to Solvang, where members got to explore and have fun. Everyone seemed to have a good time, and it was inspiring to do more of these excursions among friends."
