Jan. 10, 2008 - PRLog -- Minneapolis, MN, Jan. 9, 2008 -- USA Book News has named Beaver's Pond Press publication, Living Consciously, Dying Gracefully: A Journey with Cancer and Beyond by Minneapolis authors Nancy Manahan, Ph.D. and Becky Bohan, M.A., a finalist for the National Best Books of 2007 http://www.usabooknews.com/health/cancer.html in the category of health/cancer.

Living Consciously, Dying Gracefully: A Journey with Cancer and Beyond  is the inspiring story of Minnesota State University Professor Diane Manahan, who shows how to be in the driver's seat for the final journey, from diagnosis, to death, and beyond. People who seek a holistic, sacred approach to living can learn from this extraordinary nurse's wisdom. Those who fear illness or death can gain strength and confidence by having tools to help other—or themselves—peacefully complete their lives.

Marriage magazine is running a four-part series of chapters from the book. Editor-in-chief Krysta Kavenaugh, in the winter 2008 issue, gives it an A+:

"This is one of the books that has inspired me the most—not just this year, but in my life! It is impeccably written, taking a huge, difficult topic and making it accessible. It is impossible to read this book and not be moved, feel more human, open your heart, and be more connected to life."

Diane's husband, former president of the American Holistic Medical Association and University of Minnesota Medical School faculty member, Bill Manahan, M.D., says in the foreword that his wife's story demonstrates a new paradigm for dying—an approach that "could transform our culture's fear of life's other birthing experience."
