Smack Dab Debuts at The 23 Club January 5, 2007 at 9:30p.m. PST

Brisbane, CA January 5, 2007 – Emerging country rock band, Smack Dab will showcase their music on at the historic venue, The 23 Club, where the likes of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and many more have performed since 1941.

A skilled band with an array of talent, partnered together this past summer on the sheer thrill of their craft. Smack Dab is comprised of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dave Wippich; virtuoso lead guitarist Nick “Sparticus” Maris; rowdy and audacious Mannix O’connor (formerly of The Tremblers) on Bass and Harmonica; with Len Anderson on rhythm guitar and mandolin; and Steve “Stix” Hlavica on drums.  

Together, Smack Dab is an energetic band of talented musicians with an outstanding performance style and heartfelt interpretation of country rock music highlighted by technical excellence with well crafted musical arrangements.

"Since 1941 the 23 Club has featured some of the biggest names in Country, Rockabilly, and Western American music; and, to this day, still champions that same Honky Tonk style.  As such we wholeheartedly welcome country rockers Smack Dab to the schedule and look forward to the first of what we hope will be many shows and their subsequent contribution to our musical 'mosaic'.  Its bands like Smack Dab that will help with not only the current revival of this venue, but also the preservation of the Honky Tonk culture in general. Smack Dab primarily plays in Northern California and is on tour to circumnavigate the San Francisco Bay Area from Gilroy to Point Reyes and San Francisco to Antioch.  A Nashville tour is being arranged for late April 2008.  The band will be performing original interpretations and outside-the-box arrangements of popular classic and new hot country songs as well as original selections like "Read Between the Lines", "That’s Love", "Smack Dab", ”Dancin Like the Girl”, “I Break the Rules”, and many more originals by Dave Wippich.  Smack Dab will also be debuting some new songs at The 23 Club.

A complete CD is currently in development and downloads of many of the original songs will be available this winter, when the band launches its new website.
