Dec. 26, 2007 - PRLog -- Last night at the 25th annual awards banquet, OMS Chairman Sean McBride recognized and honored the top ten Music Schools in Ontario for their dedication, achievement and excellence.

For the third year in a row, top honors went to Judy's Music School of Mississauga which the Ontario Music Society rated as the most progressive, professional and outstanding school of music in Ontario and awarded the owners yet another Excellence award.  Evaluations conducted by OMS selected Judy's Music School as the best of 239 Music Schools in Ontario "because of it's individual attention and dedication to it's students". Amazingly, not of student from Judy's Music School has ever failed their difficult RCM exam, which according to Sean McBride “is an incredible accomplishment and a Provincial record."

Mohr Music of Oshawa was recognized as the most improved school of music in the Province and the below schools also placed in the top ten

2.     Arioso Music of (Ottawa)
3.     Riverside School of Music (Windsor)
4.     Elite Music Academy (Toronto)
5.     Merriam School of Music (Oakville)

The Ontario Music Society rates the best private schools each year based on the quality and standards of their instruction regimen, progression of their students who are interviewed and tested at random, and from student evaluations.  Points are awarded in each category and tallied accordingly.

McBride also beamed with news that enrollment in private music instruction is up 12% over last year and told his audience "Music lessons are becoming popular again and we must all support the come back to ensure its not just a passing trend"  McBride attributed the new interest in music instruction to "the many talent search reality TV shows".

At this year's banquet Sean McBride also announced that he would be retiring at the end of this year, and the OMS Board of Directors would be electing a new Chairman next month.
