Dec. 27, 2007 - PRLog -- Drive Kids to be Fit, a newly formed non-profit organization dedicated to combating childhood obesity, is seeking board members to support its efforts.  The organization is hoping to recruit a diverse group of community leaders who are committed to helping children develop healthy exercise and eating habits.  “We are looking for educators, health professionals, corporate strategists, attorneys, accountants and others who are willing to donate their time and talents to our cause,” says John Youn, Managing Director of Drive Kids to be Fit.

The organization has developed a number of activities and events geared toward educating children and their parents about fitness and nutrition.  Most recently, Drive Kids to be Fit implemented their School Challenge Program and was honored by the office of councilman Jack Weiss with a proclamation from the City of Los Angeles for its efforts.  “We’ve also begun contacting local celebrities to join our honorary board.  We are hoping to partner with people who have an interest in helping us further our mission,” says Youn.

Drive Kids to be Fit is a community partner in the National Institute of Health’s We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition) Program, a nationwide initiative conceived to reduce childhood obesity.  Other We Can! partners include the American Dietetic Association, Action for Healthy Kids, National Association of Chronic Disease Directors and the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.  For more information, visit http//:www.drivekidstobefit.org.
