Result sof Motor Expo Design Award 2007 “Ladkrabang” took top award

for young automotive designers. Young designer from Ladkrabang clinched top prize in “Motor Expo DESIGN AWARD 2007”.

Dec. 19, 2007 - PRLog -- Mr. Kwanchai Paphatphong, Chairman of Inter-Media Consultant Co., Ltd. and Organizing Chairman of the “24th THAILAND INTERNATIONAL MOTOR EXPO 2007”, said the 8th Motor Expo Design Award was an automotive design contest organized by Inter-Media Consultant in collaboration with Department of Product Design, Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Architecture, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, and Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University with support from Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Kiatnakin Bank Public Company Limited and Necvox International (Thailand) Co., Ltd., to provide an opportunity for students to submit their automotive designs and exhibit them for EXPO visitors to enjoy and be proud of the capabilities of Thai youths.

The topic for automotive design contest this year is “Future Vehicles Stun the World” which requires a design of land vehicle that fits in with the target group lifestyle while taking into consideration the issues of global warming, energy source and use of resources. The other category was the design of all-round exterior body kit without any structural change for Mitsubishi New Lancer in the style of circuit racing car.

The panel of judges this year comprise design experts, namely, Mr. Siri Senajak, Assistant President, Kiatnakin Bank PLC., M.L. Katatong Tongyai, Director of the Office of Product & Brand Value Promotion, Mr. Makorn Chaovanich, President of a Society of Thai Industrial Designers, Mr. Tasanai Raiwa, Chairman of Man Design Studio Co., Ltd., Mr. Pratarn Teeratada, Managing Editor of ART 4D, and Mr. Sakkachat Sivabavorn, Managing Director, Industrial Design Network Co., Ltd.

from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang

Third Prize
Koonpol Potisita, Montakarn Baipotivongs and Tapani Songsiyont
from Chulalongkorn University

   from Silpakorn University
   Varanyu Boonchu, Siravachara Rangsarityothin and Natapatra Janyapanich
   from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang
   Pornkiat Saelee, Tanas Aruntavornvongs and Thanapat Nunimit
   from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang

Category: Design of body kit without any structural change for Mitsubishi New Lancer in the style of circuit racing car.

In addition, Inter-Media Consultant handed out supporting grants totaling 140,000 Baht to contestants for 20 cars of their design that have passed the first round of assessment by the committee.

Mr. Kwanchai finally confirmed that Inter-Media Consultant, as Organizer of the Motor Expo, is committed to continue promoting Thai automotive industry to be number one, in parallel with encouraging the new generation to become professional automotive designers and then raising their status up to the international level, earning reputation and pride for all Thai people.
