One year ago a call was made to JonesCAM’s offices in upstate New York by the property master in NYC for Will Smiths (Doctor Robert Neville) new movie, ‘I Am Legend’.  He wanted a demonstration of the the JonesCAM LX, a micro-video camera he had seen shows use, heard good things about, but hadn't seen.  The results of that meeting are now key parts of 'I Am Legends' storyline.

For most applications, the LX is hidden because it’s so small.  In the TV and movie production industry as with others, equipment size and superb video quaility matters and that’s been the key to the JonesCAM LX success.  Doctor Neville wears the LX camera head on his glasses, places it on his monitor to record himself, he does this a lot, after all he is alone, making the JonesCAM LX a key tool in his lab and just possible for others, a up front and personal look into the legend.  For the first time in the production world, the JonesCAM LX isn't hidden out of view.  This time the only living human on earth is wearing it.

"When the call came to our facilities, it was a dream come true in many ways," says Michael Jones, President/CEO of JonesCAM. “Neville is a metculous scentist that documents everything.  He has access to anything, whose to stop him?  He uses the best methods available given his situation, to preserve and analyze his lab specimens, and remember he is alone, so he talks to himself alot.   He video records almost everything he thinks and does, he has little time or a better way.  As a scientist his research and quest for the cure must be documented and preserved for his use and hopefully others, if they are out there. Doing so with a camcorder or fixed CCTV cameras is far to impractical.  Neville needed to be mobile and record his findings hands-free. The movies production staff envisioned a micro-camera capable of being worn on glasses, that looked great, was techie, but capable of delivering broadcast quaility video when needed.  Their needs were answered by the JonesCAM LX.”  View the international trailer here:  http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/10/23/new-i-am-legend-movie...

From the first scene in the lab as Neville relentlessly searches for a cure, to wild and explosive scenes during his test, or in his apartment, the LX camera head on Nevilles glasses or monitor grabs the audience attention.  The JonesCAM LX has delivered broadcast quality videos for years for producers of Celebrity Poker Tournaments hidden table rails, buried in the ground for baseball games, inside the barrel of shotguns for Bennelli and for signature capcam shots on fishing shows, but the LX is seldom made visible.  Many producers want their production methods kept a secret. Those days are long gone thanks to “I Am Legend’.  At a suggested price of $1995, the production budget is safe and affordable in other professions like dentistry, surgery and educators.

The LX camera head is about the diamenter than a Bic pen but less than half the length.  The user has total control via manual settings for shutter speed, gain, white balance, etc. along with the option to use its auto settings.  The LX is available with S-video, 4 lens sizes along with custom cables and housings.  From entertainment production companies to R&D needs, fornesics, and covert video, the LX has done it successfully for years for Boeing, Lockheed, NASCAR promoters and NASA amongst others from around the world.  To view the features and specifications of the LX and other products JonesCAM has to offer, visit the company website at www.JonesCAM.tv

“After 10 years of being in business and establishing a great reputation with our JonesCAM helmet and on-board cameras and wearable DVR’s, this movie, at this time is the best 10th anniversary gift possible”, says  Jones.  “The only thing that could have been better would have been Will’s wearing our LX and one of our wearable DVR’s in those desolate and dangerous streets. No need to imagine what he was seeing in some of those scenes, he could have re-lived his freaking out again and again.  I knew I should have suggested that when he said, I gotta get me one of these.  Maybe next time.”
