Self-Published Author Gets Results with Kindle Sales

Prairie Springs Kindle version soars with promotional pricing

Dec. 7, 2007 - PRLog -- When Prairie Springs was released in late November (coincidentally about the same time as Amazon’s Kindle), an email was sent out to the author’s family and friends. Since the initial day, L.R. Williamson was left wondering how to sell more books without the help of an agent, a publicist or a pricey marketing campaign. Thankfully, as he waited for those who bought on the first day to receive and read their books, his editor was busy preparing the electronic file for the wireless book reader, Kindle.
With a promotional price tag of $1.99, compared to $15.99 for the bound book, what Williamson discovered, and surely others will be watching, is that people are much more willing to give an unknown author a chance if the price is right. “At this point, I don’t care about the money; I care that the story that buzzed around in my head for years gets read,” Williamson says.
Prairie Springs is the story of a small pious town in Texas where everything appears hunky-dory. However, when Anna Aron, a Jewish woman from New York, arrives to accept a teaching position, a web of secrets is revealed. The result is hysterical hysteria. By the end, not only will you have enjoyed the wacky residents of the fictitious town, you’ll want to load up the U-Haul and join them.
