Groundbreaking Childrens CD on Manners Wins Coveted Parents' Choice Gold Award

Nov. 26, 2007 - PRLog -- DOO-ZEES AND DON'T-ZEES, a new children’s CD on manners, has been awarded the coveted Parents' Choice Gold Award, the highest honor given by Parents’ Choice Foundation, publishers of the nation's oldest nonprofit guide to quality children's media and toys (http://www.parentschoice.org).

The review accompanying the award, which acclaimed the world-class musical arrangements, the humorous tweaking, the colorful skits and comic characters, also paid tribute to “the disarming creativity with which the lessons are delivered.”

DOO-ZEES AND DON'T-ZEES is the brainchild of veteran actress Flo Ayres who, along with Lon Ephraim, a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger, produced the CD which features a cast of singers, musicians and a children’s choir. The CD teaches children manners in a fun environment with a host of different character voices and a broad variety of musical styles ranging from Creole to jazz.

Ayres, who voices the CD's main character, Flosy, along with five of the CD's other comic characters, has recorded thousands of commercials and narrations and, at the start of her career, was the voice of “Sissy The Skunk,” a puppet character created by the late Jim Henson for his children's television show,  Sesame Street.  Ayres wrote and produced the CD in her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.

Ephraim, who teaches music at a scholastic level in and around the Washington, DC area, has performed live children's music at dozens of elementary and middle schools and has been a guest lecturer on early childhood education at the Smithsonian.

DOO-ZEES AND DON'T-ZEES features guest appearances from other children's music performers, including two-time Grammy Award winners for best children’s recordings Marcy Marxer and Cathy Fink (www.cathymarcy.com).  This talented duo has also received acclaim from the Parents' Choice Foundation for their own various works.
