UFC Goes Into Hostile Territory on Oct. 20, & Big John’s Bar Has All the Action, Live on 65 TVs

On October 20, 2007, Cincinnati, Ohio, will be hostile territory as Ultimate Fighting Championship Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva takes on Cincinnati-native Rich Franklin in a grudge match of epic proportions.

Oct. 17, 2007 - PRLog -- Fans can have a front-row seat from Houston’s own Big John’s Sports bar, which will be hosting the event on all 65 TVs live on pay-per-view starting at 9 p.m. CST.

“Anderson Silva has shown he is probably one of the most deadly 185-pounders we’ve ever seen,” said Dana White, UFC President, “and he has shown no signs of slowing down in his two fights since beating Rich Franklin last year. But Rich told me that he has never trained harder for a fight than he is for this one, and he is determined to not only win his title back, but to do so in front of his hometown fans on October 20.”

Devastated by a humiliating first round loss to Silva in their Middleweight title bout in October of 2006, Franklin has undertaken training so intense his fans anxiously await seeing him unleash a year’s worth of determined preparation and frenzied fury on his number one enemy. The fight, dubbed “Hostile Territory” since it will be held in Franklin’s hometown, will indeed prove to be unwelcome ground for Anderson Silva.

Of the upcoming fight, Silva says: “Of course, I don’t think I should have to fight Rich in his hometown, but if that’s what the UFC wants, let’s do it,” said Silva, who is mentally prepared to be considered “the bad guy,” at least on October 20. “I expect to get booed; it’s his hometown.”

But Silva also expects to win. He’ll enter the octagon the way he last went out — wearing his championship belt. The crowd in Cincinnati surely won’t like it, but that doesn’t affect Silva or his plans for the night.

“I am going out there to do what I always do,” he said of his upcoming fight.

Come October 20, Houstonians can watch the fight at Big John’s Sports Bar. Big John’s boasts 65 televisions, with over half airing events in crystal-clear HD format. After 20 years in business, Big John’s has become a sports fan’s ideal watering hole.

Says owner Rudy: “Big John’s is easy to get to and hard to leave.” Rudy also comments that Ultimate Fighting is “about the hottest thing going.” After a brief hiatus, UFC comes roaring back into Big John’s lineup, with October 20 as the landmark first big fight of the UFC’s return to Big Johns, as well as Rich Franklin’s possible return to glory.

The World Cup Rugby 2007 Finals are also coming up on October 20, making it an unbelievable night for sports fans and Big John’s patrons.
