Follow on Google News | Kicking For Kids Who Can’tAugust 31, 2007: Washington, DC: Kicking for Kids Who Can't is a fund-raising Washington DC event to benefit the Limbs for Life Foundation.
By: Ginna Goodenow Children and adults who are interested in making a difference in the life of another child are invited to participate in this fund-raising Washington DC event. Kickers will ask people for donations by sponsoring them to "kick" anything ranging from soccer balls, kick balls, and hackey sacks to dance kicks and martial arts kicks. Any contribution will be accepted to benefit Limbs for Life Children Charity. Special guests involved with Washington DC Event include Iraq veteran and triple amputee, Bryan Anderson as guest speaker. Gracie Rosenberger, founder of Standing With Hope, a double amputee and professional singer from Nashville will perform, amputee martial arts expert Ron Mann will return to perform his famous 1000 kicks drill. Also attending for the first time is Harley Jackson, an amputee breakdancer who will show us all how to get moving during a demo with his crew. Additional guests of this children charity event include members of the DC United soccer team. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is also getting involved in this landmark children charity benefit by drawing veteran amputees and volunteers from within the VA to the event to participate and educate all people, able-bodied or not. Wayne Miller, a Vietnam veteran and above-knee amputee, will open the Washington DC event with the singing of the National Anthem as well as award the children medals at the closing ceremonies.
