SourcePILANI BPO - Goenka Brothers Initiative launched on Ganesh Chaturthi Day

Sept. 15, 2007 - PRLog -- Pilani BPO Pvt Ltd (SourcePILANI) aims at providing low cost business solutions (back office operations) with improved efficiency by focusing on the untapped potential of rural India. It will specifically target to empower the educated but unemployed women in and around Pilani, a tier 4 city in India. The BPO unit will offer clients a cost advantage of 40-60% as compared to the over hyped cities while simultaneously addressing the problems of attrition that plague the urban BPO industry.

To start with, SourcePilani will look at the verticals in terms of Data filling/Capture form processing, Scanning and Formatting.

The project will draw support from the Goenka Brothers for capital funding. Pioneer in Industry University collaboration, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani Rajasthan which is one among the top ranking universities in India Today will act as the Advisory Board to the BPO and provide the support, branding and technical expertise. For ensuring market standard performance, SourcePilani intends to tie up with third party training consultancies to provide the relevant skills for the workforce.

The excellent infrastructure for the operations which include 27 power packed work-stations, central servers for failovers support, 24x7 backup power supply will ensure smooth daily operations and efficient delivery. The CEO for a venture of this kind must be someone with Passion and he is none other than Proud to be a BITSian Manoj Vasudevan who completed his B.E.(Hons) Electrical & Electronics Engineering in 2005 and decided to take this challenge saying goodbye to his fat salaried IBM job.

On Saturday Sep 15, 2007 the auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi day, the SourcePilani BPO was inaugurated in a colorful function attended by the Goenka Brothers with their family members, the Vice Chancellor and other officers of BITS Pilani, Director of CEERI, Pilani, yet another proud to be a BITSian Kavikrut Co-founder Mobile Medics and prominent citizens of Pilani town.

What emerges is that if the University, Industry and Society come together more often under SourcePILANI type initiatives; we will truly have an Integrated Rural Transformation Model which is desirable, reasonable, supportable, attainable, replicable, scalable and sustainable.

This initiative by the Goenka Brothers may be one small step today in Pilani but in the coming times with BITS Alumnus from Australia to America enthusiastic in supporting such ventures it’s going to be a giant leap for rural development in India.
