Follow on Google News | Iceland invades Popkomm 2007!Icelandic artists Lay Low and Bloodgroup will be appearing at the Popkomm music festival taking place in Berlin between 19th and 21st September, 2007
By: Iceland Music 25-year-old Lay Low established herself with her first album ‘Please Don’t Hate Me’ which went directly to the top of the Icelandic Charts. She has also won the Icelandic Music Award; her superb, off-kilter blues appealing to a wide range of fans across the hottest clubs in London and New York. Meanwhile, Bloodgroup siblings Halez, Raggi and Lilja and their Faroese bandmate Janus, delivered clear, danceable Indie-Elektro- The Popkomm exhibition will also host a stand with the brand new Icelandic Music Export (IMX) office, which represents the larger musical picture of the island. Labels like Believer Music, 12 Tonar, Reykjavik Records, Smekkleysa, Blánótt and Ambulant Entertainment and the celebrated Iceland Airwaves Festival - which takes place in Reykjavik between 17 - 21 October (and where you can see again Lay Low and Bloodgroup alongside world-renown Icelanders GusGus and international bands like Bloc Party) – will all be present at stand 401 in Hall 21. Also scheduled to appear at the stand is the lauded Icelandic pianist Nina Margret Grimsdottir, along with the Association of Icelandic Chamber Music and Association of Musicians and Soloists. The 2007 Popkomm festival promises to be a unique chance to discover some of the budding talent that is still pouring out of Iceland.
