Follow on Google News | Nexans announces the worldwide launch of its latest GG45 8-contact PCB jack at GITEX 2007Robust design and proven reliability for high data transmission speeds makes the new GG45 8C Series a unique solution for active equipment manufacturers.
By: Nirmala D'souza/OAK Consulting Speaking about the launch, Mr. Mark Rogers, General Manager of Nexans Cabling Solutions, said, "The Middle East is one among the fastest growing regions not only for LAN infrastructure, but also for many other products manufactured by Nexans group. With such a rapid development happening in this part of the world, there is a great demand for world-class LAN Infrastructure solutions. Since Gitex is one of the top three IT exhibitions in the world, Nexans strongly believes it is the right platform for the global launch of our new GG45 8C Series. The latest GG45 8-contact jack for PCB mount is a Category 7A jack which will revolutionise high-speed data transmission applications, testing equipments and Cat7 patch panels and cross-connect." Commenting on Nexans presence at Gitex, Mr. Tarek Helmy, Regional Director Gulf & ME, Nexans Cabling Solutions, added, "In the last few years, Nexans has achieved much success in the Middle East. Gitex has been a forum where we forged great partnerships, won new business and increased the visibility of our solutions. We strongly believe that participating at Gitex is a unique gateway to demonstrate our leadership as the LAN infrastructure Technology provider. We are also creating further awareness on our state-of-the- The new Nexans GG45-8C PCB jack is a right angle female connector which can be mounted on Printed Circuit Boards (PCB). As with all Nexans GG45 products, the new 8-way jack has outer dimensions which are identical to the existing widely-used RJ45 jack for Ethernet applications. This allows all equipment manufacturers worldwide to reuse their existing housings and PCB footprints if they want to adopt the new high-performance jack. GG45-8C PCB jack is specified up to 1500MHz and over exceeds the Cat7A specification IEC61076-3-110, which is the connector specification up to 1000MHz with the strongest performance in terms of signal-to-noise ratio and is therefore very likely to be selected for the next future copper standard. The Nexans GG45 8C meets all specified requirements in Cat7A and even extents the frequency range up to 1500MHz. The new GG45 8-way series joins the company’s extensive portfolio of Cat7 products and will initially consist of a single-port, PCB-mounted jack. GG45 is already well known as a backwards compatible 12-way connector, which incorporates a switch to have a high speed 600 MHz mode and a medium speed-250MHz mode. The new GG45 8C series will have 8 contacts only and will be running only the high speed mode. Therefore no switch is used inside. The Nexans GG45 12-way connector channel solutions have already been certified by independent German testing institute GHMT AG as fully compliant with IEC standards for generic cabling for customer premises, up to a bandwidth of 1000 MHz. The new GG45 8-way series will increase the channel performance up to 1500MHz. About Nexans Nexans is the worldwide leader in the cable industry.
