In 1998, Charley Loh, Jimmy Loh, and Simon Chu started the young startup company MJC America with just $50,000. Originally, the company focused on selling compressors for air conditioners and cooling systems under the Soleus Air brand name. Since then, MJC has expanded the Soleus Air product line to include commercial and retail air conditioners, heaters, fans, ventilation products, dehumidifiers, and outdoor living products.

As MJC expanded the Soleus Air product line, commercial and retail market penetration and sales increased at a dramatic pace. From 2002 to 2006 MJC America sales increased 400%, and Soleus Air branded products became available commercially and through many national retailers including major big box retailers, warehouse clubs, web sites, and catalogs.
