Sept. 1, 2007 - PRLog -- Texas country recording artist and outdoor enthusiast Jason Allen will headline the musical entertainment segment of The Sportsmen’s Foundation’s gala Sportsmen’s Celebration September 21, 2007 in the Fort Worth Convention Center. This one-of-a kind event celebrating National Hunting and Fishing Day will also feature a wild game dinner, auctions, and a Vegas style casino.

Allen, whose latest CD “Live At Gruene Hall” includes the self-penned tunes “John Boat Blues”, “Goin’ Fishin’ and “Kickapoo Creek” has been a fisherman all of his life. This singer/songwriter’s website has a tab devoted to fans that fish and his online store is called a tackle shop.

Jason, who records for Fort Worth’s Smith Music Group, grew up in East Texas around Lake Livingston and can’t remember a time when fishing wasn’t part of his life. “Both of my parents fished so I just grew up with it,” he said. “Now, even with the music business as hectic as it is, I go fishing every opportunity I get.

“I thank God created the outdoors for us to enjoy,” Allen adds, “Being on a lake away from the television and loud noise makes you appreciate the quiet, special sounds of nature.  It’s the kind of atmosphere that brings you back to reality.”

Other musicians appearing on stage for the event will include Casey Rivers, country music artist and runner-up in the 2006 Nashville Star competition; Maren Morris, 2007 Ft. Worth Weekly Female Vocalist and Songwriter of the year; Rodney Hayden with songs from his Down the Road CD; and local area rocking country performer Derek Sholl. These talented musicians have a special place in their hearts for Texas outdoor sports and recreation as well as the Great Outdoors in general.

Shane Johnson, event chairman for the Sportsmen’s Celebration and president of The Sportsmen’s Foundation, said, “We’re proud to have these talented individuals on hand to help us celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day. From all walks of life, we’ll be coming together to share in this unique experience.”
