H&V Announces Availability of New Embroidery Backing for High-Stitch-Count Applications

Aug. 16, 2007 - PRLog -- EAST WALPOLE, MASS. – August 17, 2007 – Hollingsworth & Vose Company (H&V), a leading supplier of engineered papers and nonwovens, has announced the availability of a new cap backing material for high-stitch-count embroidery applications.  The high performance Grade 3045 material is recommended for use with applications of 7,500 spi. or more.

“Ideal for manufacturers and embroiderers who use multiple layers on stitch designs, the breakthrough material stabilizes stitch designs on large areas with three-dimensional effects, as well as on structured and unstructured caps,” said Jim Vogt, H&V Director of Sales and Marketing for Industrial Specialties.

The new, robust material was developed in collaboration with a major U.S. cap manufacturer.

“The manufacturer encountered problems such as backing perforation when using multiple layer designs and turned to H&V to create a material that could overcome these challenges,” said Vogt.  “Now, Grade 3045 enables them to produce uniform stitching, even around the edges, with a single ply.”

A recent addition to H&V’s StitchBackers line of embroidery backings, the Grade 3045 is specially formulated of cellulose/polyester and contains more polyester than traditional backing, providing perforation resistance.  

“By enabling a more uniform design and registration, manufacturers and embroiderers can utilize Grade 3045 to gain a competitive advantage over standardized backings and improve productivity,” he said.
