Aug. 10, 2007 - PRLog -- WHITE PLAINS, NY, August 10, 2007—The Advertising Photographers of America (APA) celebrates its silver anniversary this year by reflecting on how the photographic industry has evolved over the past 25 years: “Silver to Pixels” is the theme for the 2007 National Photo Competition, which officially kicks off August 17. The competition offers photographers a great way to showcase their work and win national recognition from leaders in the photographic and advertising industry. APA welcomes your submissions via online entry at www.apanational.com beginning August 17; the deadline for entries is September 17.

Competition winners will receive great exposure and valuable prizes including equipment from leading manufacturers, liveBooks packages, Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, collection of Think Tank Photo Gear, one year Agency Access membership, Blinkbid Estimating and Invoicing Software, one year Digital Railroad membership, and promotion through the APA online Winners Gallery.  Winning images will also be featured in a multi-page spread in the “Pictures of the Year” December 2007 issue of Rangefinder: The Magazine for Professional Photographers.

Winners will be announced on October 19 at PhotoPlus Expo 2007 in New York City, with images showcased over the duration of the tradeshow. Competition images will also be showcased at the mega APA 25th anniversary celebration, co-hosted by APA and Digital Railroad on October 19.

“The milestone of a twenty-fifth anniversary is a wonderful occasion to celebrate and an opportunity to recognize the best talent in the industry through our annual photo competition,” says Constance Evans, APA National CEO. “Our consistent mandate as an organization is to encourage, support, and provide the necessary resources for helping photographers achieve success in this rapidly changing field. The competition is just one of the ways that we can lift up and give visibility to the extraordinary talent in the industry.”

Much has changed in the world of photography over the last 25 years, but APA’s overriding goal for its National Photography Competition remains the same: to promote of the work and vision of outstanding photographers—those known and those who have not yet been recognized.

The nine competition categories are: Lifestyle, Portrait, Fashion, Still-Life, Action (Sports/Adventure),  Landscape/Architecture, Personal/Fine Art, Legacy (Images made before 1997), and Student. Single image entries and series of three images may be entered. The entry fee is $25 per single image for APA members/$35 for non-members; the series entry fee is $50 per series for APA members/$75 for non-members. The fee for Students is $15 per image or series for APA members/$25 for non-members. There is no limit to the number of photographs you may enter.
