Aug. 10, 2007 - PRLog -- He's been a military K-9 cop, high threat operations team marksman, avionics technician, instructor, software engineer, and entrepreneur. Now he can add "published poet" to the list.

Kansas City-area author Rushton D. Prince uses words as a brush to bring Abstractions in Poem: Perspectives of Life, Love, and War…to life.  According to Prince, Abstractions in Poem (175 pp., $19.95), is “a collection of musings from experiences which forge us humans, realized as free verse; and while I am excited, I am also embarrassed,” Rushton says.  He then adds, “That is, I am thrilled with PublishAmerica’s release of the book, but still feel my work inadequate when you look at the names associated with the genre of poetry."

Still, take an excerpt from “Carrier,” one of the book’s poems where Prince’s take on love unobtainable is put to verse:

…just this affliction
to protect you until you find another
and then I will know peace
and then I will be lowered
into the unknown
but never to be forgotten
for I was never known.

Rushton began writing in 1976. He teaches software, systems architecture, programming, and works as a Technology Strategist for a large telecommunications company. He is currently working on his next project, a techno-thriller set in the future.
