Aug. 8, 2007 - PRLog -- Many months of planning and hard work will be celebrated on Friday, August 10, 2007, at 11 am, as VOB Development, LLC led by executives Dr. Harold and Verlyn Foley, break ground for Britton Apartments.

This is the first affordable project to break ground in Jefferson Parish since Hurricane Katrina by one of the largest minority-owned and led developers in the Parish.
The $4.5 million dollar, 30-unit apartment complex is funded by Regions Bank and the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency (LHFA).  The development will also receive assistance through the Louisiana Recovery Authority’s (LRA) Operating Deficit Loan Program administered by the Louisiana Office of Community Development (OCD).
Located on the Westbank, at 600 Nel Place in Terrytown, this apartment complex will provide two, three and four bedroom units, large walk-in closets, ceiling fans, resident community center and computer room.  Residents will be offered on-site computer training, employment services, home ownership and personal finance seminars, in a comprehensive continuum of care.  This complex is designed to attract residents back to the area.

As former Hurricane Katrina evacuees, the Foleys returned to Louisiana to fulfill their commitment to redeveloping and rebuilding the state.  Despite some of the construction problems associated with disaster areas: higher building and insurance costs, shortages of supplies,  and materials, difficulty in locating land owners, and the reality of an influx of people applying for permits, the Foleys are forging forward to bring this project to fruition.

Jefferson Parish President, Aaron F. Brossard, Dr. Harold and Verlyn Foley, representatives from Louisiana Housing Finance Agency, The State of Louisiana’s Office of Community Development, Louisiana Recovery Authority and Regions Banks, are expected to address those assembled.
