“HOLLYWOOD HEADS TO KANSAS CITY”
“Kansas City ‘Magic’ All-Star Celebrity Weekend”
To Launch the Clay Johnson Foundation”
August 7, 2007, Kansas City, MO: Forever in our hearts as a former LA Lakers player, Clay Johnson, will host the ‘Kansas City Magic’ All-Star Celebrity weekend with special guest, friend and former team mate ‘Magic’ Johnson, to launch The Clay Johnson Foundation, giving back to the community and the youth of Kansas City, where Clay grew up.
Joining the celebration is the NBA Entertainment League, radio station KPRS and even the Los Angeles Lakers are donating to the cause. Kansas City will begin preparations to welcome the host of celebrities coming out to raise awareness for The Clay Johnson Foundation and their plans to have a little fun while they are there.
“Having my colleagues stand up and support my passion, is a feeling I find hard to express.” an emotional Clay Johnson notes. “When the NBAE came on board, I knew the youth of Kansas City were going to have a winning opportunity to follow the right path.”
The weekend will host a wide array of celebrity filled events that will not only help raise money to get the foundation on its feet, but will invite the Kansas City public out to join in the festivities. Beginning Friday, September 21st, the celebrities will join golf enthusiasts at ‘The Deuce” golf course for a fun filled celebrity charity tournament and then head over to the ‘Party like a Rock Star’ Fashion Show, held at Bartle Hall. Then on Saturday, September 22, the day begins with the KPRS ‘Generation Rap Radio Show’ and a very special Basketball Clinic and Father's event at Penn Valley Community College, where the Kansas City youth and a few dads’ can join celebrity players who will work out and teach some basics of basketball. But that’s only the warm up for the big game later in the day at the historic Municipal Auditorium for the NBAE Celebrity Basketball game and KPRS after party.
To wrap up the weekend, The Clay Johnson Foundation will host a “Family Fun Day in the Park” to give all of Kansas City an opportunity to come out and celebrate. Held at the Southmoreland Park, the community will enjoy a day filled with vendors, food, children’s activities and a musical concert by some amazing guests.
