Aug. 4, 2007 - PRLog -- For almost two decades the Ethnic Business Awards (EBA) have stood as a triumph for diversity and a celebration of success. As the nation's longest running business awards, the EBA champion the cultural diversity, ingenuity and success within Australia’s national business community, and symbolises the contribution of migrants to the social and economic evolution of Australia.

In a country where one in four citizens is born overseas, the Ethnic Business Awards honour our unique human fabric as the most multicultural nation on earth. Representing an assortment of cultural backgrounds and covering a broad range of industry sectors, the Ethnic Business Awards are the only initiative of its kind to recognise the migrant contribution.

MESSAGE FROM FOUNDER

“In Australia, diversity is a fact of life and because of that, multiculturalism is a way of life. It is a way of life that enables Australia to harness and promote the ingenuity, vision and enterprise that characterises many of its new citizens.”

JOSEPH ASSAF
Founder of Ethnic Business Awards

§   To highlight the collective migrant spirit in Australia, and celebrate the diversity of our nation

§   To recognise the contribution of key government and corporate entities in supporting the migrant journey

§   To create understanding and resonate national harmony by highlighting the positive aspects and impact of multicultural Australia

THE EVENT

Last November, the Sydney Opera House set the stage for the 18th Ethnic Business Awards (EBA). His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, joined other distinguished guests at the annual Gala presentation, to celebrate the migrant business owners, recognised for their outstanding contribution to Australia with four category Awards: Small Business Award, Medium/Large Business Award, Woman in Business Award and the Initiative Award, representing ingenuity and creativity in the market place.

From hundreds of nominations each year, eight finalists assemble with heads of state, heads of diplomatic missions, ministers, media representatives and community leaders for a gala dinner and award ceremony, that is televised nationally on SBS, globally to over 45 countries on the Australian Network (formerly ABC Asia Pacific) and on the TVB network.

This year the event will be staged on an even grander scale with the support of the world class staff of the Sydney Hilton.

With National and Global audiences watching, the inspiring telecast documents the journey of each of the eight finalists in individual documentary style segments. High profile keynote speakers from government and corporate sectors deliver the awards presentation and announce the winners in the four categories. This is all packaged into a memorable and entertaining commercial broadcast.
