June 17, 2007 - PRLog -- The Brighton Ballet Theatre (BBT) / School of Russian Ballet announces auditions for its 2007 Summer Intensive Program. Auditions also include consideration for BBT’s Junior and Professional Dance Companies, as well as the Nutcracker 2007 season. All auditions will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007 in Brooklyn, New York.

For more than 20 years, BBT has been recognized as New York’s premier institution for the preservation of Russian dance culture and education. Located on the seaside campus of Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Community College, BBT maintains the highest standards of Russian dance tradition in an inclusive environment where all cultures flourish, and where dances from all over the world are performed.

Beginning, intermediate and advanced dance education classes are available for students ages 2 through 19. Instruction for adult, pre-professional and professional dancers is also available.

The Summer Intensive Session runs from June 24 through August 23, 2007.
Classes meet Monday through Friday from 3:00 – 9:00 PM, and on Sunday from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

Audition Schedule
Auditions will be held on the campus of Kingsborough Community College, 2001 Oriental Blvd., in Building T7 - 2nd floor.
To see audition times, please visit  our website: http://www.brightonballet.com/auditions.htm

Auditions for dancers 10 years old and younger will last for 1 hour.
Audition for dancers 11 or more years old will last for 1½  hours.

What to Bring and What to Expect
All applicants should come prepared to dance. Ladies should wear black leotards, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Ladies thirteen and older should bring pointe shoes. Gentlemen should wear black dance pants, white tee shirts, white socks, and white or black slippers. Dancers ages 6 and older will be given a ballet class with a bare, center floor, and steps from The Nutcracker choreography. Auditions will take from 1 to 1 ½ hours.

Special Opportunities
Young children are especially welcome to explore their expression through dance with BBT’s highly distinguished staff trained in nurturing young talent. Artistic directors will evaluate children based upon their listening skills, musicality, and enthusiasm. Early development allows dancers to advance through progressive levels with their peer group to their full potential.

BBT also seeks disciplined, professionally-oriented young dancers interested in developing their abilities from beginning dancers through the pre-professional level. Students train in Russian dance technique with BBT’s dedicated instructors who have studied and performed with the best dance academies of the former Soviet Union.

Special opportunities are also available for adult and professional dancers, who perform with the children and pre-professional dancers at BBT’s Nutcracker and other concerts, special events, as well as independently.

Special Benefits of BBT Preparation
In addition to offering professional dance education and instruction to children and young adults, BBT’s Summer Intensive Program provides the earliest opportunity to prepare and audition for BBT’s annual Nutcracker performance that is a highlight of the school year. Early summer instruction has also proved invaluable for students who plan to audition for performance-oriented middle schools and high schools, such as Mark Twain Middle School, Bay Academy Middle School, La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts, and Julliard. BBT is proud of its record of accomplishment in preparing students for successful auditions.

Finally, dancers with dreams of competing on one of TV’s talent competition programs may leap into reality by preparing for their auditions at BBT, where dedication and diligence lead to real life achievement.
