May 26, 2007 - PRLog -- The Creative Commons Music Collaboration Project, http://ccmcp.info, has just launched a service allowing musicians to collaborate and share their riffs, beats, tracks, and full fledged songs while choosing a creative commons license (www.creativecommons.org/) for their work. This allows other artists to freely mix/edit/expand upon their music in infinitely creative ways.

The Project is focused on music education through exposure and interaction between skilled musicians and beginners, get help understanding music notation, discuss playing technique and more on the Forums, and then go to the Project area and practice your skills. Begin by listening to some of the projects and get a feel for the environment, when you're ready to elaborate on a project that sparked some creativity in you download the tracks you want to use, or start your own project from scratch, load it up in your recording software--simple or complex-- and in your own time experiment and perfect your musical expression. When you've successfully added your own unique twist to a project you can post your version of the project and sit back while you get feedback via comments and ratings, then go back to the forums and talk with other musicians and listeners about how you did and how you can improve.

The Project area (http://ccmcp.info/project/) is set up to have your version of a song stream on the site, a description where you can detail your recording and suggest/request how you might like others to interpret it, and finally attach the separate tracks of your song, drum track, lead guitar track, vocals, etc. giving other artist direct access to the source of your song providing them total creative freedom.
The Forums (http://ccmcp.info/forums/) are set up to properly discuss projects, and collaborate on writing lyrics, tablature, music notation, theory education, learning about recording software and equipment, playing technique and the art of composing music.

The Project is in beta, and the founder Yoav Givati is looking forward to testing lots of new features including live internet jams, show listings, compilation albums, podcasts and some other interesting stuff to enhance the community. Music fans and musicians of any skill level are welcome to come join up, whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time and could use a forum's worth of help and advice or you're a seasoned musician who wants to join in the fun. Sign up on the forums and help shape The Creative Commons Music Collaboration Project.
