metaLogic is very pleased to announce Formlet Factory™ for IBM® Workplace Forms™. Formlet Factory automates forms deployment, pre-population and submission, can route completed forms and data to your back-end business systems, and can eliminate the need for custom integration development. All of this adds up to faster deployment, reduced costs, simplified forms creation, and the ability to quickly automate your forms-driven business processes.

The next generation of Electronic Forms is powerful, flexible, and leverages web 2.0 standards. IBM Workplace Forms is a leader in this space. For many organizations, the challenge in deriving value from electronic forms is quick and seamless integration with existing systems. Typically, this integration requires substantial custom development. metaLogic’s Formlet Factory can eliminate the need for custom integration development and replace it with an easy to use mapping tool and integration application.

Rob Salerno, metaLogic’s CTO, believes that the Formlet Factory will make a substantive positive difference to businesses looking to leverage electronic forms, avoiding the costs and delays of custom integration. Rob explains that formlets “are sets of rules that define the relationships between electronic forms and back-end databases”.

Using the Formlet Factory, electronic form fields can be initialized, pre-populated, and updated as a form is loaded and presented to end users. During the submission process, data can be extracted from the form and sent to one or more target databases. And the entire form can always be saved for audit or other purposes. There are submission options to email a copy of the completed form back to the user, or to email a copy of the completed form to a specified email address. Multiple actions, or rules, can be applied to a single form.

The Formlet Factory provides the ability to build dynamic web applications using Workplace Forms as the front-end. This includes the ability to display all active forms, work-in-progress forms, and completed forms. This makes it easy to build forms-driven web applications.

With Formlet Factory, forms design and creation can be done by designers without the need to know back-end integration details. Forms designers can focus on business and usability requirements rather than field names, field mapping, and database locations. This can greatly simplify the forms development process. The Formlet Factory Builder™ is used to build the rules that integrate forms into your existing environment. No coding is required, as the Builder has a point-and-click interface.

Formlet Factory supports browser-only, Workplace Forms Viewer, and mixed mode deployments. With the current release Formlet Factory integrates with relational databases, Domino databases, and XML flat files.
