Understanding personal communication style and strengths is the key to advancing personal and professional relationships, according to ActualMe

May 16, 2007 - PRLog -- HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – May 15, 2007– For the frustrated parent, teenager, significant other or co-worker who feels nobody “understands” them, ActualMe™ today asks, “How well do you really know yourself?” And, “Is it really possible to become a better communicator in just a few minutes?”

To the second question, ActualMe answers with an emphatic, “Yes.” To help address both questions, ActualMe (a business division of ThinkingCraft™), has launched a free Web-based version of the MindSet Test ™, a two-minute online personality test (http://secure.actualme.com/offer14). After completing the test, participants will receive a free online MindSet Communicator Profile that will:
•   Categorize their primary thinking style (i.e. interactive, action-oriented, visionary or analytical);
•   Recommend more effective methods of communication; and
•   Identify possible communication barriers with conflicting styles.

According to Mark Knobel, CEO of ThinkingCraft, the MindSet Test is not simply a personality test that is influenced by the personal experiences, socioeconomic conditions or geographic background of the participant, but rather, the test reflects the way the participant’s brain is hardwired to receive and respond to data in any given situation.

“Most people don’t understand how their own brain collects and organizes information,” Knobel said. “Once participants understand how their brains are wired, we have found that they will also begin to understand why they naturally react a specific way to certain people.”

An Overview of the MindSet Test
A melding of Jungian psychoanalysis, Gestalt theory and statistical modeling, the MindSet Test utilizes mathematical algorithms and more than 50,000 proprietary sets of 18 word-pairs to accurately create a custom MindSet Score and map individuals into one of 17 MindSet Categories.

The MindSet Test could be compared to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment except, unlike the 70+ question Myers-Briggs assessment, the MindSet Test typically takes less than two minutes, is extremely accurate and is easy to interpret and apply.

The MindSet Score
Once an individual completes a MindSet Test, it is analyzed by neurographic algorithms that produce an individual MindSet Score. The MindSet Score represents the “hard-wiring” of the individual’s brain and places the individual into one of 17 MindSet Categories, specifically:

•   Visionary
•   Motivational Visionary
•   Entrepreneur
•   Scientific Visionary
•   Commander
•   Charismatic Leader
•   Organized Leader
•   Sensitive Boss
•   Socializer
•   Organized Socializer
•   Direct Communicator
•   Visionary Motivator
•   Rationalist
•   Driven Planner
•   Logical Extrovert
•   Creative Organizer and
•   Balanced MindSet

The MindSet Categories are derived from understanding the overlaid mixture of Left-brain vs. Right-brain functions with the concept of Abstract vs. Concrete thinking styles, as well as the intensity ranking and avoidance tendencies of an individual. If no category has a predominant score, then only the right-brain vs. left-brain dimension is given.

The MindSet Communicator Profile
Using the MindSet Score and the MindSet Categories, ActualMe provides a unique and individualized MindSet Communicator Profile that explains, in detail, communication style and strengths. The profile also outlines ways individuals prefer to receive information, work towards a goal and interact with others.

“The purpose of this test is more than identifying thinking style,” Knobel said. “The goal is to help people better understand themselves so they can more effectively interact with the people around them.”

The free MindSet Test is now available at http://secure.actualme.com/offer14.
