It was designed to integrate all processes, facilitate business process consistency, support the collection of accurate data, and provide enterprise wide visibility and efficient use of corporate resources.” The future will bring new challenges to the nutraceutical industry. The key challenges are: significant growth, finalization of nutraceuticals specific cGMP standards, and ever more demanding customers. These issues combined with the lack of existing intellectual property protection, point to the need for operational excellence for future survival.
There is a new player in the nutraceutical/
supplement contract manufacturing community, United Pharma LLC. United Pharma has just opened its large ultra efficient factory in Fullerton, California. The new factory was designed and built based on the extensive experience of its President, Bill Wang. This facility is purpose built for gelatin-encapsulated supplements. According to Wang, “Every aspect of this operation has been optimized to be a world-class operation; factory layout, equipment, product flow, management team, and the enterprise planning and control software system. With such a large capital investment, I decided that we must have the best ERP system for nutraceutical manufacturing and decided to put it in place from day one. We selected BatchMaster Enterprise (ERP – Enteprise Resource Planning) because it was designed to support the manufacture of chemistry or nutritional based products; it is a complete solution, supports regulatory compliance requirements, has extensive decision support capabilities for cost management and helps us enforce the discipline needed to be a market leader. Also, the BatchMaster staff understood our industry and requirements.”
