April 20, 2007 - PRLog -- Making earth friendly choices for you and your dog.  Sure, everyone has heard of Earth Day, (haven't you) well this year it's April 22.  We all are 'trying' to do our part to help with global warming, right?  We recycle, we buy earth friendly, heck now-a-days you can even get an eco friendly car without having to mortgage your house or stay on a waiting list for over 6 months!  So what else is there?  I mean, what can we really do as average citizens?  Now your thinking, I am no rocket scientist, I can't spend 50,000 on a solar installation for my house (although it would so be worth it) so what can I do?
Dogologie is declaring National Scoop the Poop Week! An eco-friendly solution for all of us dog lovers in the world.  For the week of April 22 thru 29th we challenge you to actively scoop the poop.  Picking up not only your poop, but maybe even some of the other dog poop in your  community.  Of course biodegradable poop bags are the thing for dog owners.  Several companies make them - one is BioBags, which are carried at the Dogologie store in Fredericksburg, Texas and on line at dogologie.com.
Other ways you and your family can live earth-friendly with your dog.  When searching for a new best friend and dog companion we encourage everyone to consider adoption.  There are more breed and mutt specific groups around than you can shake a fetch stick at and thus your options are wide open for locating your next dog.  In addition to adoption we also encourage you to limit your “litter”.  While everyone loves puppies, puppy breath and those adorable little waggin' tails, many puppies often don't find homes and end up in shelters.
Finally, recycle pet food cans.  If only 100,000 Texan pet owners recycled three empty pet food cans a day for one year almost eight million pounds of metal would be salvaged!  Now that's worth barking about.
In the future, we hope that National Scoop the Poop Week will unite dog communities around the world by living to make our environment better for dog people and their dogs.  Anyone interested in expanding or contributing to this week to make it bigger and better is encouraged to contact Dogologie by emailing press@dogologie.com.
