March 25, 2007 - PRLog -- Heart disease is the nation's #1 killer.  What causes heart disease?  Surprisingly, it starts out with a lack of vitamin C.  Technically, it is called subclinical scurvy.  This lack of vitamin C causes cracks in the arteries.  What we know as plaque is used by the body to patch the arteries.  Plaque is viewed as something as something detrimental to the body, which it is.  What generally is not realized is that plaque is serving a purpose.  The body, lacking the ascorbate that it needs to fix the problem, uses plaque as a substitute.  Unfortunately, plaque narrows the arteries which ultimately leads to heart disease.

The solution is to take ascorbate which is a form of vitamin C which the body can use to help clean out the accumulated plaque.  Scientists have successfully used ascorbate to do this.  Ascorbates come in many forms.  The cheapest and probably most recognized name is ascorbic acid.  However, this form can cause discomfort.   ASH has good ascorbate products.
