The Historic Hotels of the Rockies organization recounts a number of notable presidential visits over the past one hundred years.

The Tremont House, a Wyndham® Historic Hotel and Historic Hotel of America, will reopen June 1 with a special introductory rate Sundays through Thursdays from $119 a night and on Saturdays and Sundays from $185 a night.

Party and meeting planners seek out hotels with a long history

Galveston’s historic Hotel Galvez, which sustained minimal damage from Hurricane Ike, is now scheduled to reopen to the public Oct. 15. The Hotel Galvez was built as a symbol of Galveston’s resilience following the Great Storm of 1900.

Hurricane Ike, which struck Galveston Island in the early hours of Sept. 13, caused minimal flooding damage to historic properties owned by Galveston preservationists George and Cynthia Mitchell, including Tremont House, Hotel Galvez and Harbor House
