A magnificent rosewood cylinder desk, made in the 1860s by Thomas Brooks, sold for $49,450 at the sale of the contents of the stately, antebellum Kirkwood mansion in Eutaw, Ala. The sale was held on the mansion grounds by Hal Hunt Auctions.
