The Department for Transport is being urged to investigate the possibility of handing shared responsibility for the management of Shannon Airport to Shannon Development and the Shannon Airport Authority.

Aer Lingus does not intend using the new United States custom and immigration pre-clearance facility in Shannon Airport for its transatlantic services until the middle of 2010 at the earliest, according to Minister of State Tony Killeen, T.D.

Shannon, Clare, 15th February 2008 - The Mayor of Clare today called for an end to unofficial strike action by air traffic controllers at Shannon Airport, which she said was having a detrimental effect on business in the Shannon area.
