Rx Partnership is an innovative public/private partnership that increases access to medications for the most vulnerable populations in Virginia, such as low income or elderly patients who are uninsured. Rx Partnership connects 20 free clinics across the state directly to the pharmaceutical manufacturers donating medication in bulk. In fiscal year 2015, Rx Partnership helped more than 12,747 uninsured Virginians receive 62,490 prescriptions with a retail value of $14.3 million. “Rx Partnership helps remove barriers to health care access,” said Hunter M. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Foundation. “We are honored to partner with an organization that has an immediate and lasting impact on the individuals, families, and communities who are helped by their programs.” The grant was given through the Critical Community Needs grant program, funded by Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources, parent company of Dominion Virginia Power.
