PETALING JAYA, Malaysia - Dec. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Malaysian green data center products manufacturing firm Green Data Center LLP (www.greendata.center) has emerged as the winner  for the Sustainability and Environment Technology category of the 2015 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards held recently in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This is the first time a Malaysian entrant has won in this category. The APICTA Awards is an international awards program which aims to increase ICT awareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital divide.

According to Green Data Center LLP’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Rajendra, this award was the fourth in a series of awards received by the company for its game changing technology in 2015. The other awards include the World’s Top 50 Most Talented Green Leaders, MSC APICTA winner award for Sustainability and Environment category and MSC APICTA merit award for Best of Startup Companies.

The company’s technology is aptly named Eco2 which is shorthand for economical and eco-friendly. Eco2 is a data center cooling technology based on fluid submersion. The company developed a state of the art coolant that is 1350 times more efficient than air cooling. Any OEM server, switch, router or firewall can be submersed in the coolant resulting in dramatic reductions in energy consumption and carbon footprint. Eco2 is capable of reducing the capital expenditure for new data centers by seventy percent and operating expenditures and carbon footprint of a data center by fifty percent. The coolant is bio-degradable, sustainable and renewable and non-toxic for humans. This is a major difference from the incumbent fluid submersion technology that utilizes mineral oil derived from petroleum. There are also retrofitting kits available by the company for existing data centers to convert to green data centers easily and economically.

Rajendra said that his company is committed to a five year global expansion plan in tandem with the International Data Corporation (IDC) report that 600,000 new data centres are forecasted be built in the next few years. “We are currently evaluating in which city our international headquarters will be based at. Most likely candidates are San Francisco and London. Interested data center operators are invited to partner with us to become product and service distributors as we have a very robust channel development program in place.”
