Follow on Google News | Memorial Church of Christ Hosts Living Nativity December 19 and 20By: Memorial Church of Christ Live animals, singers and actors all contribute to a meaningful scene that recreates the night of Jesus’ birth. After viewing the scene in front of the church on Five Mile, visitors are invited inside the church for refreshments. A number of area families make the living nativity a part of their annual Christmas observance. “Christ is in the name of the holiday celebrated by millions worldwide. A chance to visit a living nativity is inspiring and faith-affirming,” Trenda Knezek, a Livonia mother of three, said, “We were excited to have this opportunity so close to home. It really brings Christmas alive for the kids.” Memorial members Noral and Sue Ford of Livonia enjoyed last year’s event with their grandchildren. “We were fortunate to be babysitting our grandkids the weekend of the living nativity last year,” said Sue Ford, adding they felt it “reinforced the real meaning of Christmas instead of all the commercialism.” Last year, several hundred people came each evening to view Baby Jesus in the manger and this year, Memorial’s staff and volunteers expect an even bigger turnout. Memorial Church of Christ is an independent, non-denominational fellowship of believers who seek to follow Jesus Christ and identify ourselves by and with his name.
