Grip Media To Premire First Theatre Production ‘The Man With A Womb’

TORONTO - Nov. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- “Media to Celebrate Diversity Through Storytelling.” GRIP Media announces the launch of their first theatre production, on December 18-19, 2015. The Man with a Womb is the first written and produced by a young African entrepreneur, playwright, author and activist, Sunita Miya-Muganza. “I wrote a story about a Black Cinderella in modern times to explore issues of gender and identity. I hope my audience is entertained, engaged and educated with my rendition of the Cinderella story,” says Ms. Miya-Muganza.

The Man with a Womb is a fresh take on the universal story of Cinderella with a modern twist that explores the gender politics of womanhood.  As Sunita was preparing for the LSATS, she decided to start a production company that would focus on narratives that have yet to be seen by mainstream media in North America; wanting to tell stories about diversity cultural, religions, and peoples in North America and the rest of the globe. Sunita has written, directed, and produced 8 stage plays in Toronto including, Isaiah’s Corner, Solomon’s Thoughts, The Gift of Life, and The Meet the Kwaku’s.

Building on the momentum of excitement within the international film diaspora, GRIP Media is launching this theatre production to introduce a greater representation of diversity both on screen and on stage. The company aims to meet this need with its unique approach to storytelling and providing minorities with an opportunity to be represented in an authentic way with narratives that the city has yet to see.

Their mission is to create and produce narratives that are engaging, authentic and entertaining. G.R.I.P Media was founded by Sunita Miya-Muganza in 2013, aiming to celebrate diversity in front and behind the camera.
