CHESTER, N.J. - Nov. 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The Holidays are quickly approaching and what better way to celebrate than with wonderful classical concerts performed by The Morris County Arts Workshop’s (http://www.mcartsworkshop.com/) Chester Baroque Orchestra, a 16 member group under the direction of the Grammy-award winning and internationally acclaimed violist / violinist Dr. Richard Maximoff. The program is entitled “Christmas Carols of the Baroque” and will feature Christmas Concerti by Corelli, Manfredini and Torelli, along with a French Christmas Suite by Corrette.

The two special concerts will take place the second weekend in December. The first is a benefit concert scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 7 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church at 11 Schooley’s Mountain Road in Long Valley. All donations from this concert will go to Operation Chillout New Jersey, an outreach program that assists homeless veterans. The second concert will be on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at The Hive, home of MCAW’s Chester Baroque Orchestra, in the Chester Springs (ShopRite) Mall at 197 Route 206 in Chester. Admission is $5 online through www.mcartsworkshop.com or $10 at the door.

“This is a magical time of year and many times we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle that we just need a moment to relax – what better way than with some soothing Baroque music,” notes MCAW Director Jane Shatz. “We hope you will join us and also enjoy the debut of our newest art show.”

The Hive’s latest art show - “Seeing the Light – 4 Views” - will premiere with an artist’s reception from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, December 13, 2015. The works will be on display during the Baroque Concert. The four artists in the show include:

• Christina Debarry – a noted impressionist pastel painter in the tradition of Mary Cassatt and Edgar Degas

• Annette Adrian Hanna – an accomplished portrait and landscape painter who works in oil, pastel, charcoal and graphite

• Laurie Harden – a nationally and internationally recognized artist who works in oil paintings, pencil, charcoal and pastel

• Elissa Prystauk – an international, multi-award winning impressionist painter who works in pastel and oil

These are just a few of the series of musical performances and art shows the non-profit organization, which brings after-school art, music, language arts, and cultural programs to youth and seniors in Chester, Mendham, Mt. Olive and surrounding areas, continues to host at its storefront location – the Hive. MCAW also offers a number of special classes and workshops. Some of the monthly activities include Paint and Wine for adults; Open Mic Night; and Music Café special performances.
