NEW DELHI - Nov. 24, 2015 - PRLog -- Women of India Exhibition 2015 of Organic Products Culminates At Dilli Haat on November 23

The 11-days “Women of India Exhibition 2015” organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development culminated on November 23rd at Dilli Haat. The theme of this year’s Exhibition was ‘Women and Organic Products’. For the first time in India, over 500 women entrepreneurs from Leh to Kanyakumari and from Kohima to Kutch, came together with their organic products, such as tribal and ethnic foods, cereals, rice, pulses, spices, fabrics, dyes and dresses, cosmetics, household products, pickles, preserves, oils, honey, tea, hair care, bath care, beauty care, aromatherapy products, solar products, kitchen composters, organic cotton fabric, linen, organic seeds and bio products.

Well known environmentalist and Women & Child rights champion, Union Minister for Women & Child Development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi explained the importance of making the shift  to organic, "Organic foods contain more vitamins, minerals and nutrients than similar foods produced with chemical fertilizers, pesticides and preservatives. The Exhibition was a successful platform to empower women entrepreneurs in a festive and fruitful manner. The ministry is considering ways to increase the frequency of such initiatives so that women across India growing or manufacturing organic products can benefit on a more constant basis." The main aim of the exhibition was to support and encourage women and women-led groups that promote organic farming, thus supporting their local community’s economy, creating jobs and keeping farmers thriving in addition to spreading awareness about the benefits of organic products with the motto, “Eat Healthy, Live Healthy”.

Ms. Sarada Ali Khan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development gave Participation Certificates to the Women Entrepreneurs amid a cultural evening at the closing ceremony on the 23rd.

The 11-days Exhibition with more than 250 stalls selling organic produce had people brimming on all days thereby giving immense encouragement to the sincere efforts of all participants. Besides organic products, people also got an opportunity to taste a variety of home-cooked organic food at Dilli Haat. Not only did this initiative benefit women entrepreneurs but also actively promoted the healthier option of organic food and products among lakhs of consumers in Delhi, as well as across the nation. The Ministry of Women and Child Development aims to follow up this initiative with quarterly exhibitions in different cities so that participants get more frequent opportunities to reach their products to an expanding audience.
