OXNARD, Calif. - Nov. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Local moving and storage (http://www.pods.com/storage.aspx) company, PODS will support and carry the heavy weight to help Ventura County’s regional food bank, FOOD Share to have a successful holiday food drive CAN-tree Collection event. On Dec. 4-6, PODS will help transport more than 200,000 canned goods with its signature PODScontainers (http://www.pods.com/Storage/Benefits-of-Storage-Containers.aspx) to the site of the food drive at The Collection at RiverPark.

Canned goods delivered will be used for the construction of more than 300 CAN-trees—made with 600-800 canned goods— constructed by teams of local businesses and communities, including two 14-foot CAN-tree made with 10,000 canned goods assembled by students of ACE Charter High School, Naval Base Ventura County Seabees and the Ventura County Contractors Association; one of which is sponsored by Dole Packaged Goods.

“FOOD Share is one of our favorite local nonprofits to partner with and have continued to support their endeavors in achieving their goals to feed the hungry during the holidays,” said Steve Yapp, owner of local PODS Moving and Storage. “So we are happy to provide more PODS containers to such a creative, fun community event that will provide more than 150,000 pounds of food for the hungry.”

In addition, a 16-foot transparent Plexiglass PODS container will become a holiday broadcast booth for Local B95.1 throughout the weekend to encourage the community to come out to donate canned-goods and participate in building their own CAN-trees.

“PODS has always been a great partner of ours and we’re always so grateful that Steve and his team always come through at times we need it most,” said Bonnie Atmore, president and CEO of FOOD Share. “Their ability to provide logistics to ensure participating teams receive all of the canned goods to build trees for FOOD Share will make for a successful event.”
