ARLINGTON, Va. - Nov. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- HomeAid America, a building industry charity and one of the nation’s largest builders of housing for the homeless, was the beneficiary of the generosity of Meyers Research, one of its top national partners, for the 5th time on October 23rd in the Washington DC Area.  The event was attended by 150 people and raised over $25,000 for the charity.

Meyers Research, a Kennedy Wilson Company, has been holding housing forecast events to benefit HomeAid America for the past two years, and after this fifth event, has now raised over $172,000 through ticket sales and sponsorships.  Jeff Meyers, President of Meyers Research and HomeAid America Board member said, “HomeAid is an important industry-based cause whose sole mission to help homeless families and individuals rebuild their lives.  I am honored to be part of this effort to provide housing for the homeless.”

HomeAid America CEO Peter Simons said, “We are thrilled and humbled by the continued generosity displayed by Meyers Research in holding these events to benefit our organization.  This funding is critical to continuing and growing our ongoing effort to allow the building industry to help in the fight to end homelessness in this country.  Jeff Meyers has also shown a personal passion for our cause by serving on our Board of Directors and providing the organization with his valuable leadership.  HomeAid and Meyers Research have been a great team and are making a difference together.”

The Meyers DC event was a joint effort with the Northern Virginia and DC chapters of HomeAid, who both had booth presentations along with HomeAid America at the event.  HAA and HA NoVa Board member John Monacci, Winchester/TRI Pointe Homes’ VP of Operations, pulled together a stellar builder panel that included his President Alan Shapiro, Stanley Martin Homes’ President Steven Alloy, and Pulte Homes Division President Lewis Birnbaum, all supporters of HomeAid Northern Virginia.

John Monacci said, “It is great to hear marketplace information from the Presidents of three distinguished Washington DC builders.  These gentlemen not only give of their time to participate in this event, but their companies have also done multiple HomeAid projects over the years.  All three of these leaders make our efforts to end homelessness in our area a success.”

Many of the sponsors of the Meyers events are other national partners of HomeAid America, and the DC event was no exception with national sponsors including Fidelity/Chicago Title, Environmental Stoneworks, First American Title, Fifth Third Bank and Caliber Home Loans.  Past events have been also been sponsored by national partners including imortgage, Maytag, Wells Fargo, Valley Crest and numerous others.  Without their generous support, the success of these events would not be possible.

Meyer Research has vowed to continue these events; with the next one is scheduled for January 20th at the Wynn Encore hotel in Las Vegas during the International Builders Show.  HAA Board members Scott Stowell and Adrian Foley are already confirmed on the builder panel, and the keynote speaker with be noted Executive Chairman of The Futures Company J. Walker Smith.

HomeAid was founded by the building industry in 1989 as a way to give back to the community by addressing the issue of homelessness.  According to the National Law Center on Homelessness, each year over 3.5 million Americans experienced homelessness at some point.  Nearly 1.5 million of them were children.  HomeAid’s program identifies charities in the community working to help the homeless that need additional facilities in which to house people and provide programmatic resources such as job skills training and financial counseling, as well as physical and emotional support. HomeAid then finds builders who are willing to take on these projects and build them at a deep discount by enlisting their trade partners to give their time and materials as in-kind donations.

The HomeAid model has been proven to be hugely successful and currently has 17 chapters in 12 states, and in 2015 alone, three new chapters have been started in Puget Sound (Seattle-Tacoma), Minneapolis-St, Paul, and Hawaii.  Nationwide, over 60 new projects are currently under development.
