Harrogate College Design Student Claims Opportunity to Work with Miller Homes

Nov. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- An Interior Design student at Harrogate College has been chosen to work with a Yorkshire based interior designer to create a brand new show home for leading housebuilder Miller Homes (http://www.millerhomes.co.uk/).

The housebuilder, along with designer Jeanette Holmes, hosted a competition with second year degree students from the College asking them to design an interior scheme for the master suite at its forthcoming Chene Hall development at Killinghall.

“We were amazed at the amount of effort the students had clearly put into their schemes and the variety of the ideas that they presented to us,” said Jan Hanaby area sales manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. “All had a very clear direction but one scheme, created by Sadie Mae Martin, really embodied the brief we had set fulfilling all our wishes.”

Sadie, 23, from Harrogate, designed a scheme that had a muted colour palette, elegant furniture and soft furnishings that would be ideally suited to the five bedroom ‘Thames’ style show home.

“I really enjoyed hearing the student’s ideas and the processes they had gone through to create their schemes,” said Jeanette Holmes interior designer for Miller Homes Yorkshire. “However, there was just something about Sadie’s scheme that seemed to emulate the quality that Miller Homes has in its show homes and the way in which she really embraced the brief so accurately made her a very worthy winner.”

Sadie will now work alongside Jeanette to bring her scheme to life and gain an understanding of how a show home interior is brought to life.

“I am so thrilled to have won the competition and to be working with Jeanette to see how my ideas will translate into reality,” said Sadie. “Thanks go to Miller Homes for such an amazing opportunity which will really bring my classroom knowledge to life and will undoubtedly be a great learning experience.”

Miller Homes’ Chene Hall development is located in the village of Killinghall to the North of the spa town of Harrogate. It will consist of three, four and five bedroom homes and will open early next year.
