By: Southcoast Kitchen Designs Firm buys, renovates Benjamin Ellis School… Southcoast Kitchen Designs announces plans to relocate headquarters to historic Carver location CARVER and MIDDLEBORO, MA, Issued November 23, 2015…Southcoast Kitchen Designs (www.southcoastkitchens.com) Matt Arguin, President of Southcoast Kitchen Designs, confirmed the purchase of the historic Benjamin Ellis School, located at 247 Tremont Street, Carver. The two-story, 4,200 square foot structure which dates to 1932, will replace Southcoast’s two current locations: a 650 square foot showroom in Middleboro and a 1,000 square foot contractor’s showroom in New Bedford. Arguin and his team are currently renovating the building’s interior in preparation for the relocation. He said that a priority for him is the preservation of the historic nature of the building. “The architecture, design, look and feel of this building reflects the history of this town and the region,” he said, adding “The building also lends itself very well to our needs. We know that our customers will love the new location, and we look forward to being a key part of the Carver community.” Arguin said that the company’s continued growth has led them to look for larger office space. He said, “We have enjoyed being in Middleboro and New Bedford, but we have outgrown our spaces, and we believe that one central consolidated location will serve our customers better.” The school is named for one of Carver’s most famous citizens, Benjamin Ellis (1774-1853), a successful businessman and the head of a company which provided ammunition to the United States government during the War of 1812. Ellis then went on to become a Massachusetts State Senator. The school was officially dedicated in September 1932. Over the years, the Benjamin Ellis School has been used as a school, but also as a home for the Kiwanis Club and the Carver American Legion Post. Eventually, residents of the town agreed to sell the building for private use. Arguin said that Southcoast Kitchen Designs will host an Open House at their new location later this winter. The relocation comes on the heels of other good news for Southcoast Kitchen Designs. The company recently won the coveted PRISM Silver Award in the category “Best Kitchen Remodel Under $125,000.” Hosted by the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston (BRAGB), the 2015 PRISM Awards Gala saluted the accomplishments and achievements of Greater Boston builders, developers, project owners, architects, land planners, marketing/advertising firms, interior designers, remodelers, and other professionals in the home building industry.
