Harrogate Crowned Happiest Place to Live in UK for Third Consecutive Year

YORK, U.K. - Nov. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- A Rightmove report has crowned Harrogate as the happiest place to live in Britain – for the third successive year. The spa town has put Yorkshire on the map, along with York which was named fourth in the survey. Participants of the survey were asked to rate the area where they live based on 12 factors, including living costs, neighbourliness, recreational facilities, a sense of community and how proud they felt about their home. Shrewsbury came second in the report, with Ipswich ranking third and Chester, another Northern city, completing the top five.

London, despite having a large population and much of the nation’s wealth, did not fare well in the survey. Nine out of the bottom 10 places to live were in the capital, with East London borough of Barking and Dagenham coming in last at 130th. Following these findings, removals companies based in the north of the UK are preparing for an influx of people looking to relocate to Yorkshire.

Harrogate is home to Georgian architecture and a natural spa, excellent shopping including independent boutiques and designer stores, vibrant restaurants and bars, award winning gardens and is close to the scenic Yorkshire Dales.

The city of York, which came fourth in the property website survey, is a larger Cathedral city and is a great destination for twenty-somethings and young families. Steeped in history and culture, York Minster and the Shambles are the city’s main attractions, along with the city walls. York is also home to a university, meaning many students also decide to move to York at this time of year.
