Waste Management Company Emterra Awarded for Environmental Sustainability Leadership

VICTORIA, British Columbia - Nov. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Emterra Environmental continues to raise the bar when it comes to using green technologies to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill with a goal of a world with “zero waste”.  In communities across Canada, the Company works to maximize recycling of collected materials from residential, industrial and commercial clients.

It is this innovation that has let to yet another accolade, this time by the Synergy Sustainability Institute. On November 10, Emterra was presented the 2015 EcoStar Award in the Climate Action category at an awards gala at the Inn at Laurel Point in Victoria, British Columbia.

From deploying refuse fleets that utilize low-emission emitting compressed natural gas (CNG) to leveraging the most advanced sorting technology at their material recovery facilities to introducing single stream recycling programs to increase participation – Emterra continues to innovate.

Emterra recently unveiled a brand new compressed natural gas (CNG) fuelling station and fleet in Victoria, British Columbia to serve residential and commercial customers in the Capital Regional District. By replacing its diesel fleet with CNG powered refuse trucks, Emterra is reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20%. (See: http://www.emterra.ca/cng-green-waste-fleets)

Emterra has served the waste management needs of the Capital Regional District since 1989.  Today, it collects 18,000 tonnes of recyclables within the region leveraging its new CNG fleet. Emterra is replicating the positive environmental contribution of CNG fleets, most recently opening Canada’s largest CNG fuelling station in Mississauga, Ontario. Now with 4 CNG fuelling stations in Canada open to the public, Emterra now operates one of the largest CNG fleets in the country.
